Partridge was engaged by the City of Sydney to deliver structural remediation for the Woolloomooloo Murals, a landmark public art installation on the Eastern Suburbs Railway overpass pylons. The original steel-framed mural system had suffered significant corrosion from trapped moisture and long-term exposure, threatening the integrity of the artworks. We undertook detailed inspection of existing frames following controlled sample removal by conservation specialists, informing a targeted upgrade strategy. Working with artists, conservators, and MCM fabricators, Partridge developed a lightweight aluminium framing system fixed to the existing Transport for NSW pylons. This solution supports reinstated zincalume mural panels while improving durability and drainage performance, extending the service life of the artworks by at least 20 years. Four upgraded mural structures are now in fabrication and installation is underway, ensuring continued preservation of this culturally significant public art.
