LOCATION Sydney, NSW

Furniture design and fabrication isn’t typically where you’d expect to find structural engineers, but at Partridge, our expertise extends far beyond concrete and steel. This desk’s unique design was created by joiners H Dallas for the Museum of Sydney reception area. Featuring a flared, convex, and corrugated hardwood veneer façade, it required a robust structural solution. Our team developed a hidden steel frame and ballast system to support the desk’s weight and ensure its stability. Constructed off-site, disassembled, and craned into position, the piece integrates seamlessly into its environment, featuring no visible joints. This project highlights our commitment to providing innovative structural solutions for even the most unconventional designs, highlighting Australian Hardwood in an innovative and elegant form.
