PROJECT Multi-Headed Reclining Figure

DESIGNER | ARTIST Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran

LOCATION Kingsford, NSW

Multi-Headed Reclining Figure (2025) is a cast-bronze sculpture by Sri Lankan-Australian artist Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran, installed on the nature strip outside Scape Kingsford beneath a mature frangipani tree. Partridge was engaged as structural engineer to support the permanent installation of the artwork within an active public streetscape. The low, reclining form and multiple projections required careful consideration of load paths and stability. Partridge worked closely with the artist and fabricator to understand the distribution of mass and design discreet fixings capable of resisting self-weight, wind loading and incidental contact. A concealed standoff footing system was developed to hide the foundation within the garden, creating the impression that the sculpture floats lightly above the ground while maintaining long-term structural reliability.
