PROJECT Headland House

ARCHITECT Richards Stanisich

BUILDER Alvarez Constructions

LOCATION South Bondi, NSW

Headland House, designed by Richards Stanisich, transforms a South Bondi Art Deco apartment into a single modern residence. Partridge developed a structural strategy to preserve the original masonry walls while supporting a new level, terrace, and basement excavation. Steel portal frames provided temporary stability during construction, while targeted remediation, such as repointed mortar, new cavity ties, and protective render, ensured the walls could perform long-term. Concrete slabs and roof framing integrate seamlessly with retained fabric, supporting curved interiors, central stair, and reflective finishes.
