PROJECT Earthbuilt Walling System

CLIENT Earthbuilt Technology

LOCATION Sydney, NSW

At Partridge, we are always exploring innovative approaches to structural engineering. Earthbuilt Technology has worked with Crest Robotics to develop ‘Charlotte’ – an autonomous robot which constructs walls from loose materials such as sand, clay, gravel, or recycled waste bound with a tensile membrane instead of cement or chemical adhesives. Layers are extruded to form continuous walls that are structurally resilient under loads and environmental stress. Partridge is assisting Earthbuilt to refine the technology, optimising structural performance and material use. On Earth, this method allows rapid onsite construction, reduces reliance on imported materials, and can incorporate recycled streams. Early testing shows promising performance under bushfires, floods, and seismic events, demonstrating the robustness of the reinforced earth principle.
