Partridge is providing structural engineering services for the conservation of the state heritage-listed Rouse Hill Estate, a property with more than 150 years of layered history managed by Museums of History NSW. This work follows earlier restoration projects, continuing our long-term involvement with the site. Our role focuses on stabilising and strengthening the estate’s ageing structures while preserving their authenticity. The scope includes remediation of the timber verandah, repair of brick and timber elements in the Service Wing, and seismic strengthening of sandstone chimneys using discreet steel framing concealed within the roof space. Each intervention follows the Burra Charter principle of doing only what is necessary to care for the place while retaining its cultural significance. Through these works, the estate remains structurally sound, accessible to the public, and able to share its story for future generations.
