Balconies and integrated planter boxes are among the most vulnerable parts of any residential building, and in this Pyrmont complex, aging waterproofing was quietly letting moisture compromise the structure below. To solve the issue, Partridge worked alongside Paragon Apartment Management, The Strata Collective, and contractor ACM to deliver specialist remedial engineering that addressed the root cause of the failure rather than just surface symptoms. The scope involved stripping away failing tiles, waterproofing, and screed to expose the concrete slab and repair spalling caused by corroded reinforcing steel. The team also upgraded the building envelope by replacing non-compliant balcony sliding doors. New waterproofing membranes, screeds, and precision cavity flashings were installed to intercept and discharge future moisture safely. Finished with protective surface coatings, the project successfully restored long-term structural durability and secured the building against the elements.
