The brief for this project was to create a minimal yet safe infill balustrade in between two staircases within a school. Partridge’s expertise in the analysis of tensile structures allowed for this beautiful design to be produced, which used a series of vertical tensioned wires tied together horizontally with another wire, which minimised the deflection and ensured the balustrade remained compliant. Partridge worked closely with the installer and the base-build engineer to ensure that the supporting structure would also be sufficient to support the balustrade.
