Partridge delivered structural engineering for this 2024 NSW Architecture Award-winning Bondi home, tackling complex site conditions. A 3-metre brick wall, retaining 1.6 metres of soil, required embedded steel rods for tension, and footings avoiding existing stormwater. A suspended slab on piles addressed the soft sand foundation, while custom concrete hobs supported the brickwork, integrated with waterproofing. A thin slab with optimised reinforcement managed cracking in exposed concrete. Structural challenges included tensile balustrades, a lightweight plastic roof, and a false floor for services. These solutions maintained architectural vision while ensuring structural integrity, keeping elements as thin as possible
