Awaba House in Booragul has reopened as a contemporary lakeside hospitality venue following its restoration by BKA Architecture for Lake Macquarie City Council. Originally dating from the 1927 rebuild, the historic property suffered significant fire damage in 2019. During construction, Partridge provided specialised consulting services, focusing on facade and roof waterproofing. Working alongside structural engineers BG&E and the broader project team, Partridge delivered construction-stage structural expertise to address complex site conditions. This included stabilising the fire-damaged heritage facade and integrating modern weatherproofing systems while respecting the building’s original fabric. The successful revival of Awaba House demonstrates the practical value of collaboration between engineering teams. Partridge was pleased to support the project delivery alongside BG&E, helping reconcile existing building constraints with the demands of its new use overlooking Lake Macquarie.
