Partridge played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and integrity of these suspended madjeri, installed over the reception desk at the Museum of Sydney. These bark canoes use traditional techniques and were hand-made by Uncle Ron Mason and the Gamay Rangers. The unique challenges posed by their variable properties and long-term durability required innovative engineering solutions. Our team carefully evaluated the suspension system, considering load calculations, seismic factors, and public safety. We certified the design and implemented a risk management plan to ensure the display’s longevity. The successful installation of the madjeri showcases the rich heritage of the Dharawal people while maintaining public safety.
