The structural design of this project came with some unique challenges, particularly when it came to the ground floor slab and how it integrated with the site. Our work at Partridge started with designing the basement shoring, ensuring the safety of neighbouring properties while also allowing efficient construction access.

Collaborating closely with the architect, we went through multiple iterations to refine the ground floor slab, tackling complexities like landscaping integration, level changes, steps and recesses, void placement, and superstructure load transfer—all while keeping vehicle clearance in mind. The reinforcement detailing, especially in the beams, was particularly intricate due to closely spaced junctions and steps, so we took extra care to prevent concrete flow issues through thoughtful detailing.

Construction sequencing was another key focus, and our team developed a practical and cost-effective approach to streamline the process. For the superstructure, we designed custom connection details to accommodate level changes, while the open-plan layout of the ground floor required an innovative approach to lateral stability. Instead of using conventional bracing, we introduced portal frames to provide the necessary rigidity while keeping the space open.
Our innovative structural solutions helped shape the architectural vision into a tangible space.
