The Goulburn and Georges Rivers flow through lands that have sustained and held cultural significance for First Nations peoples for thousands of years.

The legacy of the Taungurung people continues to shape how we understand and engage with these lands today. Through the provision of hydraulic and civil engineering services for the revitalisation and upgrade of Light Horse Park in Liverpool, Partridge was proud to contribute to the transformation of a site rich in cultural and historical significance into a functional, inclusive, and ecologically resilient urban park.

The Stormwater Management Plan, along with the carefully considered level design developed in collaboration with Gallagher Studio, MW Architects, and Cred Consulting for Liverpool City Council, contributed to the creation of a master plan that reimagined the park as a safe, accessible, and welcoming destination for the community.

Partridge’s hydraulic team responded to the site’s unique conditions through comprehensive assessment, detailed modelling, and the application of water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) strategies. Our work included delivering stormwater management solutions for several key areas—such as the community hub, playground, outdoor gym, picnic areas, parking facilities, and overland flows from the adjacent railway corridor. These systems were integrated with the broader river network, supporting native riparian planting and enabling effective erosion control measures to establish over time.

Partridge’s civil engineering services supported the seamless integration of the proposed scheme, prioritising maximum accessibility for all members of the public through the introduction of appropriate links and connection points for prams and wheelchairs. The resolved design ensured compliance with accessibility standards while enhancing the natural flow of movement throughout the site.

Partridge is proud to be part of the broader team contributing to the exciting transformation of Light Horse Park—applying practical solutions that enhance ecological function and improve community access, all while honouring the park’s unique history and setting.

It will be our privilege to provide ongoing support and advice in the months ahead, as the proposed masterplan evolves from a shared vision into a built reality that serves the public.
