At Partridge, we know that strong engineering teams are built by investing in people. Pictured here are Melbourne Senior Associate Jon Butler and Senior Engineer Jeannifer Pangestu with young engineers Aaron Welsh and Daniel Mijares Mendez, reflecting the different stages of learning and experience within our team.
Our approach to professional development combines mentoring, practical experience and ongoing technical learning, giving engineers at every stage of their career opportunities to build their knowledge and take on new challenges.
Our mentoring program connects team members with experienced professionals who can provide guidance based on their career goals and areas of interest. Staff can request a mentor, with matches made according to the mentee’s goals and the mentor’s expertise.
Learning also happens through our day-to-day work. Our development program includes regular CPD sessions, lunch and learns, on-the-job training and internal ‘Lessons Learned’ sessions, where teams share knowledge from projects and experiences.
We also run quarterly Engineering Design + Outcome Excellence workshops, led by Partridge Director Eamonn Madden and Senior Associates Alan Dowling and David Leonard. The sessions provide an opportunity to explore technical practice and reflect on project outcomes.
For those looking to pursue further development, Partridge provides financial support for Engineers Australia membership, external professional programs and further education.
For junior engineers and students in particular, this combination of mentoring, structured learning and practical experience provides a foundation for developing both technical capability and professional confidence.
Developing good engineers is not just about what they learn, it is also about giving them the opportunity to apply it, ask questions and learn from the people around them.
